It feels a little weird to come of age so far from home. Hey, if anyone's listening- do birthdays make you feel awkward here, or is it just another year for you?

I'm not sure whether or not it's something to celebrate, but... still, it can be exciting, right?


[Contrary to the usual tradition of most people, Suki is in the Avatar kitchen today, trying to... make herself a cake. Or rather, a cake she can share with the family at dinner. She wants to know how to cook for her man, after all, and now that she's had a couple of cooking sessions with more experienced bakers, she thought it would be fun to try.

Thanks! And I don't know... we normally just picked a day and did something then. I know it was my birthday a few weeks before I got here, anyway.

Uh huh. I know it's right in the beginning of summer! And I know when my last one was, anyway.

Summer birthdays are great, I think. It's much warmer than having it any other time!

Uh huh! This one will be kinda weird, it's only spring. But it was summer when I was taken and spring when I got here, so that means my birthday moves too, right?

Oh, I can see why that would make things strange. I was lucky- it was summer when I left home, and summer when I arrived. So there isn't much difference.

That's kind of useful! It'd be weird if it was summer there and winter here, huh? It's just a couple of months, for me.

That would be strange, yeah. I'm not sure how someone would deal with that kind of time difference...

Yeah... it'd be bad coming here in winter, anyway. The New Feather clothes are really thin.

That's true... it would be nice if they at least gave us shoes when we arrived.

Uh huh - even if it is summer. There's lots of sticks and rocks and stuff in the forest - that's where I arrived.

I got off lucky, there- I was at one of the lakes, so Sokka came and brought me back in his boat. I can't imagine walking there with no shoes.

Me either! Although my clothes were next to me, actually... when I came back in November, though, they weren't. And it had been snowing.

When you came back? Did you get to go home?

Oh... sometimes when you come back from kidnappings and stuff, you wear that stuff... [And from deaths, too.]

Oh, I see... I wonder if they just have a neverending supply of white clothes in their bases?

[Link pauses a little, suddenly picturing rows and rows of white clothing, then laughs.] Maybe! I think they should make winter versions, too.

I'd be happier with a few more colours. Though it's kind of convenient, knowing who's a newcomer when the cycle starts back up.

Yeah... if you see someone wearing that stuff, you know that you should help them and make sure that other people are taken care of.

Though it's just a one-in-three chance that they really need help! It's still good to ask, at least.

Uh huh. One of my friends just came back after he was gone for a while, so I guess he didn't need help since he'd been here before.

Gone? Was he sent home, or kidnapped?

He went home... for a while, he said. Then he came back only a few months later here. Time's weird here, huh?

Definitely. The times never seem to match up, even when you're from the same world...

Uh huh. I have one friend from my world, and he was here for two years before me, but he got brought here only a few days before I was at home.
