...Um... can anyone tell me what day it is?

[Which might explain why she came home to an empty house after being unceremoniously dumped in the woods about ten minutes away from it. She's surprisingly okay after a Mallynap, just kind of confused as to why everyone is gone this morning. (That might have something to do with it being a school day, woo. Not that she knows that.)

After some food and a good long nap, Suki will head out for some fresh air; she might linger around the smithy or the school, depending on the time of day. Bother her?]

[Sigh.] I can understand why that might make you feel uncomfortable, but you'd probably feel a lot better about it if you did talk about it. It's not like I don't know Sokka.

...and it's not like I don't know how serious you two have been getting. But if you don't want to talk to me... promise me you'll at least talk to someone?

[...Eh-heh. They have been getting kind of serious, haven't they? It hasn't really occurred to Suki until now; it's just been a natural progression. That's why she's so upset in the first place, isn't it?]

...He never... told me he loved me before. To hear it like this, I...

[It feels cheapened- like what should make her happy only seems to bother her now. Like it's an afterthought: "Oh, by the way, I turned into you because I love you!"]

[...Really, Sokka? And you'd started on the engagement necklace and everything!]

Sokka's an idiot. [A wry shrug and a sympathetic look.] And sometimes he's not much for words when it counts. He's much more of a 'show you how I feel by actions' kind of guy. It stinks that you had to hear about it like this, but... if you really think about it, it's not like you didn't know, right? This might have confirmed it, but... it doesn't take all those actions away.

...I knew he really liked me. That was obvious. [She mulls it over for a moment, lips pursing, and then adds,] If you think about it, we haven't really known each other that long. Wanting something and knowing something... they're very different.

[Except now she knows, and she pushed him aside because of the circumstance. Is she an idiot, or...?]

Oh. [Mrrr, serious and complicated and love issues - what is she doing, she can't even figure out how she feels about Aang (not that she's from a canon point where Aang made his interest blatant) and she has memories of being married to the guy!

...there's a moment, though, where Katara catches on to something else, and - well, it's not her fault she thought this had all been settled between them! Why would Sokka be strongly hinting about engagement to her for months if he hadn't -- ARGH. - her sisterly protective feelings come into play for a moment here, although it still does make a valid point towards Suki's situation.]

Do you love him?

[The question catches her off guard- they'd spoken so much about Sokka and the problem itself that she hadn't expected that one. There's a bit of hesitation first, and-]

I... I think so...

[That's... not really an answer, though. If she didn't love him, this wouldn't have been such a big issue- because she wouldn't have been waiting for him to say it. She wouldn't have been saving her body... as if she expected to show it to him herself one day.

Like... if they really loved each other. If they got married or something.

That's more than just... liking someone.]

[...ohgood. Katara can't help but smile at that - Suki'd scared her a little. She reaches out impulsively to cover one of Suki's hands with hers.]

Then you guys will work it out. I know you will. I don't trust anyone more than I trust you two [except Aang, but does that even really need to be said?] and you're strong enough to get passed what they did to you. [Curse those Malnosso.] Once you figure out what you want, I know Sokka will do everything that he can to make it right.

...Mm. I'm sure you're right, Katara. [Strong enough... they are, aren't they? Even now, it's not like she could ever hate him- or not forgive him, at that. And even if it is a big deal now... it won't be forever. Talking about it is helping her see that already.

[Katara squeezes Suki's hand before releasing it and leaning back.]

Any time. [A pause and she glances away for a moment, wanting to further help but now quite knowing how.] Maybe you should see if you can catch some rest. Coming back from the Malnosso straight into this? You might feel better.

[She is feeling kind of tired, and now that the issue is resolved as much as possible without rushing it, she nods agreeably, already turning for her room.]

Yeah... I'll do that. See you at dinner, Katara.

[...Maybe. With Sokka, it might be too awkward... well, she'll just see how she feels when the time comes.]
