It feels a little weird to come of age so far from home. Hey, if anyone's listening- do birthdays make you feel awkward here, or is it just another year for you?

I'm not sure whether or not it's something to celebrate, but... still, it can be exciting, right?

[Contrary to the usual tradition of most people, Suki is in the Avatar kitchen today, trying to... make herself a cake. Or rather, a cake she can share with the family at dinner. She wants to know how to cook for her man, after all, and now that she's had a couple of cooking sessions with more experienced bakers, she thought it would be fun to try.

...Someone ~~KATARA HALP~~ should probably supervise, though, before she does something irreversibly unpleasant.]

Do you have any plans for your birthday, Suki-san?

Not yet. I wasn't sure if anyone had planned anything out for me, so I thought I should leave the day free. [Because Sokka is totally up to something.]

That's true! [a small, pleasant laugh] I hope you have fun, whatever it is.

Thanks again! I really appreciate that, especially since it's coming from a stranger. Are you new here, or have you been around for a while?

Ah, yes, I'm new. I just arrived about a week ago. Luckily, a lot of my friends are here, so that made it much easier. Actually, I hadn't seen them in a quite a while, so it's even kind of nice.

What about you, Suki-san? Have you been here long?

I've been here since August. So- wow, it's been more than half a year already! You lose track of time here easily, I guess.

[Vivi goes quiet for a moment at that reminder that she's stuck here in Luceti for who knows how long. Then she gives a small, polite laugh.] I suppose there's a lot to keep people busy. [Not all of it good.]

Just enough, I think. It's kind of nice to live peacefully sometimes, even though the experiments are really disruptive.

[Ah, right. The experiments.] Do those happen...often?

There's not really a schedule for it. I guess every month or so? We don't know why or how they pick a date for it, it just happens.

[Oh. That's entirely too often, if you ask her.] I see. [But this doesn't seem like a good conversation topic on someone's birthday, so...]

What sorts of things do people do for their birthdays where you come from?

Where I'm from... well, it's nothing too special. It's a small village, so most people know one another. But we're really big on sweets during holidays, so most of the time the villagers get together one big dinner and spend a few hours on dessert alone.

That sounds like it would be very nice. My birthdays are usually on the hectic side.

How did you celebrate them?

Oh. Usually a small tour to some of the outlying cities, and they'd host a dinner and celebration--dances, fireworks...once there was a circus. Of course I always appreciate it, but I think a small celebration with friends and people you know well would be very nice.

That sounds pretty exciting! Just the right kind of event for a special occasion. I've never seen a circus, actually.

Yes, exciting is a good way to describe it. There's something different every year. The circus was one of my favorites, actually. They had so many clever animals who could do all sorts of tricks. [She pauses.] I suppose they don't have anything like that here.

I've never seen one, but now that I think about it, it would probably be easier to do here! Since the animals can talk, I mean.

Oh, that's right! Someone told me about that, but I still haven't seen it for myself--or heard, I suppose I should say.

Actually, I haven't talked to any animals, either. The ones I live with don't seem to be able to.
