We've been getting an awful lot of rain this month so far, haven't we? Was it this bad last year?

Speaking of "year"... getting pretty close to my first, now. A lot has happened to make it feel a lot shorter than it is. I guess it took me by surprise...

Hey everyone, just a quick announcement:

Be sure to put in some extra practice today if you can, because tomorrow I plan on running a private tournament between you all to see how you're doing. It's hand-to-hand only, so you can use whatever techniques you've learned so far. Get a good night's sleep the night before, okay?

Next week I'd like to try some acrobatics, so we'll meet in the Battle Dome.

Hey, Toph, if you're not busy today, want to work on some training? I have a few ideas I'd like to try.

[Suki is out and about today, picking some stuff up at the plaza, checking on the status of the uniforms, and hiding out in one of the shops when the rain hits. Otherwise, housemates can find her at home- probably soaked to the bone when she arrives, poor thing.]

[Ooh, an unsuspecting foe. Suki spots him, brows lifting at once, then slides right into stealth mode, edging closer while he's occupied with his gear. Tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe, aaaaaand...

Sokka, welcome back!

[Oof! His KILLER INSTINCTS almost activate. Only not really because he's caught stunned for a second, then his eyes light up. It's his girlfriend! No wait, fiancee!]

Suki! [He's gonna immediately plant a FUZZY kiss on her lips.]

[Yaaaay Sokka kisjkhfdjkhfdsFUZZY. Immediately she pushes him back, leaning away, eyes wide, because that did not feel like a Sokka kiss, and her instincts are saying WHAT TERRIBLE MISTAKE HAVE I MADE.

But... that is most definitely Sokka's face. With a fuzzy. There's a fuzzy thing on his chin. It wasn't there before.

Pardon her for a moment, she's staring.]

[Okay, well, that's not her usual reaction to a kiss. He's a little floored to have her pull away like that, because she never did before, Of course then he realizes what she's staring at.

That just causes him to smirk and stroke his new beard. It had been a mess of stubble when he went camping, but having neglected to shave until the day he headed home had made him decide to keep what was there.]

I take it you noticed the new addition. Pretty nice, right?

[He looks awfully proud of himself. She blinks at him, then reaches out to give it a little poke. Well it's certainly no Wang Fire beard, but...]

You... um. You grew a beard.

[What does she even say to that.]

[Go ahead, Suki. Poke it all you like. He doesn't mind. Because he is INCREDIBLY pleased.]

Yeah, well, it's a start anyway. I think it looks pretty good, though. [This is where you back him up!]

A start? You mean you're going to grow it bigger?

[STILL UNSURE. Although... he does look a little older with it. Mature, even. Huh...]

Well. Eventually, maybe. I don't think I quite want to quite give up my chin entirely, you know?

[Though what he's really going for is something more like his dad's beard. Because everything his dad does is awesome.]

[...Hmm. Maybe it'll have to grow on her the same way the beard's growing on him. But for now, she rests her hands on his cheeks, considering his face + beard for a long moment, then tugs him in to try another kiss. Now that she's not going to be startled by it, let's see how it feels.]

[Consider him an all too willing participant in the beard-to-kiss experiment. He'll try not to make it too itchy.]

[To his credit, it does last long enough to be considered a normal Sokka-Suki kiss, and when she draws back, she gives her lower lip a little rub, her expression thoughtful.]

It's a little itchy. [A pause, and then-] ...But I guess it's okay.

[Consider Sokka pleased. They can have their usual making out later.]

Only okay? Well, as long as I get to keep it. [He was worried she'd make him lose it!]

Give me some time to get used to it! It is a big change, after all. [Well, not huge- it's not like he launched right into the full-face beard or anything. But it does change the feel an awful lot.] ...It does make you look manly, though. I can see why you like it.

I know, right? I should have done this years ago! [You know, nevermind that he's only been able to really grow a beard like this within the last year. Shush.] I sort of feel like I've found that missing piece of myself and it was inside my chin all along.

Well I'm glad that you waited until now, anyway. I think I would've been a little overwhelmed if I had that waiting for me when I got here.

[Such manly power, it would have overwhelmed her for sure!]

Yeah, I can see how- oh hey, it'll be one year for you soon, won't it?

[Sokka hit a year and a half months ago. They should probably do something special for the day Sokka was reunited with his lady love.]

Two weeks, I think. [She gives her cheeks a light scratch, the smile fading a little. Not sure how she should feel about this, really.] It was getting to the end of August when I arrived.

[Oh yeah, he knows that feeling. He was mighty depressed when he hit his first year. It was a pretty big deal.]

Yeah, I remembered. Hard to believe, huh?

After everything that's happened, I thought it would feel longer. [Her fingers drift downwards unconsciously to toy with her necklace.] But now I look back and it doesn't really seem very long at all.

[It's a touchy subject, but he watches her touch the necklace and it brings a smile to his face.] You've made my last year here a lot better, you know. Even with all the bad stuff.

[Oh, well done, Sokka. You brought that smile back, and she does feel a little better. Still weirded out, but he's always good at cheering her up.] I can't say it was a bad year, either.

Sure, the fighting and the fake romances and the sudden addition of two daughters was a little crazy, but yeah. It was... I don't regret it.

[How could he regret the year he got engaged in? No matter how many bad things happened.]

I should hope not. That reminds me, someone warned me today that the second year is even worse than the first. What do you think about that?

Maybe that person didn't have a boyfriend. Or girlfriend. Whichever.
