We've been getting an awful lot of rain this month so far, haven't we? Was it this bad last year?

Speaking of "year"... getting pretty close to my first, now. A lot has happened to make it feel a lot shorter than it is. I guess it took me by surprise...

Hey everyone, just a quick announcement:

Be sure to put in some extra practice today if you can, because tomorrow I plan on running a private tournament between you all to see how you're doing. It's hand-to-hand only, so you can use whatever techniques you've learned so far. Get a good night's sleep the night before, okay?

Next week I'd like to try some acrobatics, so we'll meet in the Battle Dome.

Hey, Toph, if you're not busy today, want to work on some training? I have a few ideas I'd like to try.

[Suki is out and about today, picking some stuff up at the plaza, checking on the status of the uniforms, and hiding out in one of the shops when the rain hits. Otherwise, housemates can find her at home- probably soaked to the bone when she arrives, poor thing.]

I just figured that would be the most straightforward way to tell everyone what we'd be doing. I won't be keeping score, and it's not like anyone will win anything in the end. I just want to see you guys sparring so I know how you're doing.

[Her voice meanders somewhere between her normal tone and a mutter.] It's not really who wins so much as who loses that I'm worried about.... [But then her head drops to put chin in palm with her elbow against the table she's sitting at and she continues normally.] I guess you have a point, though.

Fenimore... [Sounds like someone is severely lacking in confidence.] Do you want to get some extra practice in before tomorrow? I wouldn't mind working with you a little more.

D-- [Do you really think it would change much at the last minute? But she stops herself from asking the question. Suki wouldn't have suggested it if she didn't think so...unless it was just to make Fenimore feel better. Either way. She also stops herself from asking if she's sure she doesn't mind when she realizes she's about to nibble on her thumbnail -- this kind of hesitance is the sort of thing she'd probably scold her absent friend Shirley for.

So, after a pause, she replies with a mildly subdued:] ...I'd appreciate it.

[Suki relaxes a bit; maybe this'll do them both some good.] Okay. Can you meet me this afternoon in the battle dome? We can practice as much as you want.

[She nods.] All right. ...Thanks.

[She'll be heading out to the battle dome after she finishes her lunch, reluctantly taking an umbrella due to the heavy rain. If Suki's not there when she arrives a little before 1 (she didn't want to be late and she wasn't sure quite when Suki had intended), she'll spend almost twenty minutes pacing restlessly before she realizes that she should try to warm up, which she will do then if Suki hasn't arrived by that point.]

[When Suki arrives, she noses around the place for a while, checking where Fenimore is working first and then moving to the observation deck to watch. After about ten minutes, she heads down to the entrance to step in.]

Hey, Fenimore! Have you been waiting long?

[She completely failed to notice Suki arrive, so she jumps when she's addressed before turning.]

Hey, uh -- no, I wasn't waiting long. I just...wanted to warm up first. So it was better that I got here first.

[Well, technically, it had taken her a while to think of warming up, so it wasn't entirely true, but...details.]

Sorry for sneaking up on you. Looks like you've got the basic form down, at least.

Well, that part wasn't so hard. It's more the parts after that that are giving me trouble. ...And it's a lot easier to do it without having to do it to someone.

Hmm, so that's the problem... in that case, why not try it on me?

Huh? [...Well, that's what Sokka had done when he had given her a lesson, so...] Well, I guess it might help. So.... [She will just very carefully take a starting stance. Very, very carefully since it is in front of the teacher.]

[Suki shifts into a defensive stance, offering up a disarming smile.] Come at me. You can do it, Fenimore!
